Ex-Elite-Soldat Jack Carver (Til Schweiger) führt ein beschauliches Leben als Bootsführer für Touristen an der US-Westküste. Damit ist es jedoch vorbei, als die attraktive Journalistin Valerie (Emmanuelle Vaugier) auftaucht und ihn bittet, sie zu einer Militärinsel zu bringen. Sie ist die Nichte eines dort stationierten Colonel (Ralf Moeller), der einem ungeheuren Geheimnis auf der Spur ist!
