Das Jahr 2012. Auf der Erde herrschen apokalyptische Zustände. Die Energie-Ressourcen sind verbraucht, große Teile der Weltbevölkerung sind bereits verhungert. Anarchie und Gewalt bestimmen das Leben. Eine Gruppe von Überlebenden hat sich in einem verlassenen Kranken- haus in Philadelphia verbarrikadiert.
